Our commitment
Privacy is the foundation of Zauj. Your identity and photos stay protected, and nothing about you is shared publicly. We never sell your personal information.
This website
If you join the notify list on this site, we store the email address you provide and use it for one purpose: telling you when Zauj launches. We do not add you to marketing lists or share your address with anyone.
What the app collects
Account details (name, email, phone), a verification selfie used solely to confirm you are a real, eligible person, the proposal information you choose to provide, and usage data — which screens you open and which actions you take — to keep the service reliable and safe and to understand how Zauj is used.
Location
If you allow it, the app reads your approximate location on your phone to show how far away a candidate is. That reading stays on your device: it is never sent to us or stored on our servers, and you can decline it and keep using Zauj. Separately, the city and country you type into a proposal are stored as part of that proposal, because they are what other members match on.
Service providers
We use a small number of trusted companies to run Zauj, and they may process your information only on our instructions and only to provide their service. Product analytics is handled by PostHog, hosted in the European Union: it receives a pseudonymous account identifier and records of in-app actions, never your name, email, photos, or anything you write in a proposal or a message. The remainder are our hosting, database, email delivery, push notification, and subscription-billing providers. We do not sell your personal information, and none of it is used for advertising.
Photos and anonymity
Photos you add are shown blurred to other members and are only revealed in clear form after both sides mutually agree to an identity reveal. Your verification selfie is encrypted and is never displayed on your profile.
How we use your information
To verify eligibility, present your proposal to compatible members, enable private conversations, and keep the community secure. We do not use your data for advertising.
Your choices
You can edit or delete your information, control your visibility, block members, and delete your account at any time. Deleting your account removes your profile and proposals from the service. To be removed from the notify list, email us and we will delete your address.
Data security
Information is stored securely with industry-standard encryption. Your verification selfie is kept private, accessible only to our review team, and retained only for as long as we need it to verify and protect your account.
